What: Dallas Museum of Art League Art in Bloom “Seasons of Love” Luncheon

Where: Dallas Museum of Art

PC Moment: For its annual Art in Bloom Symposium and Luncheon, the Dallas Museum of Art became a floral utopia. Newly appointed Eugene McDermott director, Agustín Arteaga joined chair Sarah Jo Hardin, and honorary chair Jill Goldberg in the festivities — and the theme, “Seasons of Love,” lured nearly 400 more attendees.

The luncheon’s star was world-renowned floral expert, René van Rems, who gave a keynote in the museum’s Horchow Auditorium, before inviting guests to view eight floral designs he created, inspired by various works from the DMA’s permanent collection. We were wild about van Rems’ white-hydrangea masterpiece, which took its lead from Gustave Courbet’s A Fox in the Snow, and provided us with a flower-design lesson. “When in doubt,” said van Rems, “add a hydrangea!”

Petal Pushers: Margaret McDermott, Mary McDermott Cook, Peggy Sewell, Faye Briggs, Heather Furniss, and Rusty Duvall.
