What: The annual House of DIFFA Gala benefiting Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, DIFFA/Dallas
Where: The Omni Dallas Hotel
PC Moment: The future as DIFFA envisions it is one I definitely want to live in. It’s a world where giant eyeballs dressed in frilly frocks parade down the runway, nearly 1,400 of the city’s most stylish bring their A-game in high-fashion space-age ensembles, original “Fab Five” member Carson Kressley dazzles in red, and, most importantly, it’s a future with zero HIV/AIDS-related stigma, deaths, and new infections.
Thanks to more than $325,000 raised through the silent auction, Fund-A-Grant campaign, and live auction — hosted by comedian Dana Goldberg — we are that much closer to making that future a reality. The combined proceeds will directly benefit more than 20 organizations dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS in North Texas.
The positivity and generosity in the ballroom was palpable, and once the show started, the energy turned all the way up. From this year’s incredible group of Style Council Ambassadors — Carlos Guzman, David Brehm, Steven Pounders, Gina Zucchet, Lana Constantine, Lea Fisher, Lindsay Jacobs, Nickki St. George, Parker Williams, Paul Hollowell, Vodi Cook, and Zoe Bonnette — to a Fembot-filled dance performance by Gwendolynne Murphy, to look after jaw-dropping look from Forty Five Ten and Traffic LA, the runway served up enough style to cause an electric storm.
The spectacle closed on an angelic note with three models in ethereal Iris van Herpen dresses, flown in from Paris especially for the show. Afterwards, guests made their way to the after party to dance to beats by DJ Lucy Wrubel and continue toasting to a very beautiful future.
