Farmers Market Gurus Team Up With Houston’s Top Chefs for Special Restaurant Dinner
By Jailyn Marcel //
Non-profit organization and local food pioneer Urban Harvest teams up with chef Monica Pope for a farm-to-fork fundraising dinner benefitting its namesake youth education program. Sunday Supper at Sparrow will feature dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients from local farms including Tejas Heritage Farms, Plant it Forward Farms and Sustainable Harvesters.
Pope isn’t the only notable chef helping the cause. Other culinary contributors include Justin Yu (Oxheart), Randy Rucker (Bramble), Adam Doris (Pax Americana), Mark Decker (Down House), Soren Pedersen (Currant Kitchen) and Ara Malekian (Harlem Road Texas BBQ). The money raised will help Urban Harvest further develop its existing youth programs, which include nutritional education, lessons in gardening and culinary programs run with affiliate schools that help fight childhood obesity.
