What: Opening party for Garrett Leight California Optical’s first Texas location
Where: Garrett Leight boutique in Knox-Henderson district
PC Moment: In a nod to cult fave (and much-missed) TV series Friday Night Lights, Garrett Leight opened his first Texas eyewear shop with a festive affair that included an Insta-worthy neon sign emblazoned with, “Clear Eyes. Fresh Frames. Can’t Lose.”
Leight, who has three stores in California and one in New York City, first mingled with partygoers beneath a white tent outside the store, where DJ Sober entertained with upbeat hits. Bartenders crafted perfectly potent Mezcal cocktails, complemented by apps including ahi tuna poke cones and street tacos.
Inside the boutique, the lively vibe continued as artist Napkin Killa sketched portraits on optical cleaning cloths and guests tried on Garrett Leight frames.
To celebrate the opening, Leight released limited-edition “Dallas” optical lenses ($375) and sunglasses ($395), available in maroon acetate with an optional custom brown lens for the sunnies.
Perhaps one of the best parts about the new store? There’s an in-house lab where opticians provide on-demand customization and fulfill prescriptions.
Garrett’s Guests: Jim and Beth Gold, Leon Bridges, Fred Holston, Edwardo and Kary Brittingham, Anais Nussbaumer, Blake Wright, Jonathan Merla, Molly Slusher, Lynsey Eaton, Lauren Withrow, Amanda Lund, and Francisco Moreno.
