What: Harvest benefitting the North Texas Food Bank

Where: Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

PC Moment: It was nearing the bitter end of the hottest and driest September on record in Dallas, but that couldn’t keep supporters of the North Texas Food Bank from showing up in full force to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden to celebrate — primarily outdoors — at Harvest, the organization’s annual fundraiser and one of Dallas’ favorite foodie events of the year.

Their generosity was rewarded, and not just with endless bites of Wagyu beef from Rosewood Ranches. As light rain showers hovered in the distance over downtown Dallas, the first hints of a cool breeze rolled over White Rock Lake, kissing partygoers’ cheeks, fluffing their hair, and breathing life back in to their overheated souls. As if a massive, 100-degree weight had been lifted from everyone’s shoulders, a certain lightness filled the air, followed by murmurs of the “best sunset ever.”

Awash in the pink and orange glow reflected off of the lake, guests mingled with co-chairs Lisa and Marvin Singleton and sampled from over a dozen chef-driven food stations, which offered bite-sized dishes such as duck confit hash with ghost pepper relish, sweet potato, hen egg, and cilantro by Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek chef Sebastien Archambault, handmade artisan bread from Empire Baking Company’s Meaders Ozarow, and a rainbow of macarons by Haute Sweets Patisserie’s Tida Pichakron.

Making their season debut, the Arboretum’s iconic pumpkins added to the magic of the evening. No one had a better view of it all than DJ Lucy Wrubel, who, positioned in the center of the event swirl and perched just above the city skyline, was perfectly in her element.
