What: Camp for All “All the Places We Go!” gala

Where: Bayou City Event Center

PC Moment: Dr. Seuss would have been proud of the 550 partygoers, many of whom colorfully embraced the whimsical theme for this night of high-spirited revelry. Shaking things up were guests in various interpretations of the Grinch, Thing One, Sam-I-Am, The Cat in the Hat and more. The night included live and silent auctions, a wine pull, a raffle and dancing to the sounds of Skyrocket.

The party raised more than $750,000 for the camp that serves more than 11,000 campers with special needs who reap the benefits of the camp where they learn what they can do rather that what they can’t. That point was brought home by guest speaker Angela Wrigglesworth.

Applause, applause for chair Maidie Ryan. More applause for honorees Liz Rigney, Texas Children’s Hospital and Dr. Mark Kline. And kudos to underwriting chairs Travis Torrence and Heath LePray.

Happy campers: Camp for All president and CEO Pat Prior Sorrells, board chair Mike Lewter, Martha and Buzz White, Cheryl and Josh Samuels, Robin Reed, Leslye and David Weaver, Melinda and Matt Mogas, Barrett and Lesley Schick, Beth and Buddy Clarke and Kelty and Rogers Crain.
