What: American Cancer Society Holiday Shopping Card launch parties
Where: Back to back at River Oaks District and then Highland Village
Pc Moments: River Oaks District got the 20 percent shopping discount rolling with the inaugural kick-off party for the American Cancer Society fundraiser. Of the 500-plus retailers across the Houston area participating in the shopping extravaganza that runs through October 29, more than 25 are located in River Oaks District. When there is a 20 percent discount at Roberto Cavalli, Giuseppe Zanotti, John Hardy, Stella McCartney and more, it’s time to shop.
The following night, Highland Village embraced the shopping madness with full on mistletoe enthusiasm. Cheerful decorations, whimsical wintery characters from J&D Entertainment, live music including local fave Bubba McNeely and the Houston Texans cheerleaders added to the very merry spirits. Even Astros’ MVP candidate Jose Altuve was there, even it was a stumble upon moment.
How does it all work? For $75, participants receive the Holiday Shopping Card, sponsored by Victory, the all volunteer arm of the American Cancer Society. That card earns a 20 percent discount on most everything in the participating merchants. The cards are available at all participating retailers.
Who: Holiday Shopping Card chairs Diane Walla and Diane Johnson, plus Hannah McNair, Elizabeth Stein, Debbie Chenevert, Jo Lynelle Farina, Brian Teichman, Andrew Cordes, Jessica Perez, Blanca Vian, Nina Garcia, Jessica McMahon Richard Flowers and Angel Rios.
