What: Lafayette Loves Women Artists

Where: Neiman Marcus, Houston Galleria

PC Moment: For this premiere event celebrating women, art and fashion, Neiman Marcus joined forces with Instagram culinary art sensation Stephanie Nass and Lafayette 148 New York for an evening of spring fashions that saluted creative women of all artistic disciplines.  For the gathering, social media star Nass, aka Chefanie, created a collection of eye-popping, colorful cakes.

Applause, applause for her signature cakes covered in edible paper and hand painted with food dye to match the prints of the Lafayette Spring/Summer 18 collection. The cakes were as fresh and fabulous as they were fashion-forward.

Houston gallerist Deborah Colton of her namesake gallery addressed the union of art, fashion and females by introducing a stunning, large scale painting by notable Texan and female artist Dorothy Hood that set the stage for a bright and female focused runway.

Parallel with this years’ cultural movements in support of women, Lafayette 148’s creative director Emily Smith looked to women artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Helen Frankenthaler and Joan Mitchell to inspire the new Spring Summer 2018 collection. Cool abstract prints on effortlessly chic silhouettes pranced down the runway amidst a pageant of women dazzled by the collaboration of creatives.

After the runway show, fashion junkies and many of Houston’s most popular influencers snacked on the fluffy  printed cakes a la Chefanie and sipped Champagne in celebration of a most fun convergence of creativity and fashion.

In the crowd of fashion and art focused bloggers were Carrie Colbert of Carrie Colbert, Candace Thomas of Luxe with Kids, Alex Hannes of Adored by Alex, Reagan Corbett of ReagART, Bethany Buchanan of Southern Chic Style and Nina Delano or T.A.O. Club.

Who: Katelyn D’armond, Jordan Oakum, Doris Lai, Iris Cheng, Yui Fujita, Alex Hannes, Chigi Ohanele, Ehi Ade-Mabo, Megan Bailey, Olivia Metzger, Mary Rice, Silvia Salle, Kathy Kates, Irma Brindis and Adora Galas.
