Located only an I-45 exit or two from Johnson Space Center, Lewis Jewelers at the mother ship store in Clear Lake embraced an out-of-this-world theme in celebration of the vaunted jewelry emporium’s 38th anniversary. It was a futuristic anniversary party/charity fundraiser dubbed “Cosmic Couture.”

Silvery space cadets, guests in NASA jackets and spacesuits and even a guest or two dressed in other-worldly costuming added to the dazzling scene. For if it wasn’t the 400 guests rocking in the party tent that lit up the night, it was surely the collection of fine jewelry (think Armenta, Rolex, Ippolita, Mikimoto, Kwiat and more) that sparkled within the boutique.

Leading the welcoming on this star-studded night were Cindy and Slade Lewis, son of store founder Sandy Lewis who launched the business as something of a hobby, never expecting it to grow into such a far-reaching jewelry concern with a second store in Uptown Park. In honor of the evening’s theme, Cindy had her locks done in a do reminiscent of Princess Leia while Slade had his long hair coiffed in a starburst motif.

The evening celebrated not only the firm’s 38 years of business success but also its decades of community philanthropy with proceeds from this event going to the Lewis Jewelers Dialysis Unit at Texas Children’s Hospital. Over the years, the company’s annual party has raised $750,000 for the unit. That in addition to support of fundraisers for Assistance League of the Bay Area, Lunar Rendezvous, The Arts Alliance Center of Clear Lake, the Junior League of Galveston County, Go Red for Women, as well as the Texas Children’s Renal Department where the dialysis unit is located.

Adding to the starry night were the sounds of Danny Ray and the Acoustic Production and catering by Cafe Express.
