McLaren Unveils a New Supercar in Houston: Invite-Only Event Produces a Jaw-Dropping Valet Line

The car confab at the terribly chic 5226 Elm event space was organized to introduce McLaren‘s latest set of wheels in its Super Series, the McLaren 720S. But as one observer noted, “It was nearly eclipsed by the jaw-dropping parade of exotic cars revving into the valet line outside, including the “Michael Jordan of Supercars,” the McLaren P1.”
Grab your Centurion, that sleek baby is priced at a cool $2 million at McLaren Houston. The brand new McLaren 720S, however, tallies in between $280,000 and $350,000.
The invitation-only reveal, hosted by McLaren Houston served also to introduce the brand ambassador and official driver of the dealership, Kory Enders. Welcoming guests to the swank party were McLaren Houston GM David Bohn and McLaren Houston & Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land owner Ken Enders.
While chef Alvin Schultz of Eat.Drink.EXPERIENCE! provided stylish cocktails and canapés, the pros provided speedster details on the latest in the Super Series — the car goes from 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds and has a maximum speed of 212mph.
Car and Driver is already gushing over the 720S, “McLaren’s know-how with lightweight, aerodynamic, ferocious supercars is undeniable, and the 720S is proof. (It boasts) a 710-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic.” The grand unveiling was greeted with plenty of ohhhs and ahhhhs.
