What: Memorial Park Conservancy‘s annual “Picnic for the Park”
Where: The Forest Club
PC Moment: Wowza! The spread that the Forest Club put on for the Memorial Park Conservancy “Picnic for the Park” packed enough delish carbs to boost the stamina of the most avid park joggers. Think all kinds of mac & cheese, French fries and chips plus beef, veggies and plenty of sweets to tempt all.
Close to 500 park fans gathered beneath a clear party tent in a mis en scene that spoke to the theme, “Happy Trails.” Event signs and table numbers recalled trail signs often seen in parks and the programs were designed to resemble a hiking trails map.
Leading the celebration of the conservancy’s progress with the vaunted Master Plan were chairs Emily and Robert Clay. Landscape architect Thomas Woltz, whose firm Nelson, Byrd, Woltz has designed and is overseeing the Master Plan, was in from New York for the al fresco fête. The evening saluted George Johnston as the Ima Hogg Volunteer of the Year and raised more than $380,000 for conservancy programs.
PC Seen: Emcee Ryan Korsgard, Nancy and Rich Kinder, Anita and Gerald Smith, Duyen and Mark Nguyen, Tammy and Steve Jenkins, Cindy and Kendall Miller, Shellye Arnold and Tina Sabuco, Rosanna and Myron Blalock, Becky and Kelly Joy, Lainie Gordon and David Mincberg, and Shannon and Mark Nini.
