What: Kickoff for the second annual A Place for Peanut gala
Where: A private home in Bellaire
PC Moment: Two adorable rescued mini horses, Vida and Magic, led the red carpet welcome for supporters of the non-profit that has saved more than 150 abandoned horses and donkeys since its founding by Megan Cardet in 2016. Her inspiration was finding a 29-inch miniature foal, named Peanut, in a Texas kill pen.
A Place for Peanut Equine Therapy & Rescue saves horses, donkeys and miniature horses from being slaughtered and employs them in special programs and therapy for children and veterans in hospitals.
The gala, actually a casual fundraiser, is set for August 17 at Kirby Ice House and will be chaired by Christine Johnson with Michelle Maresh serving as honorary chair. Scott Gertner‘s jazz band will light up the night and meteorologist Casey Curry will serve as emcee. The evening will honor Michelle Mantor publisher and editor-in-chief of Houston PetTalk Magazine.
Who: Party hosts Lori Hood and Kathy Griffin, plus Gina Cagna, Gayle Williford, Jayne Edison, Christine Powell, Jimmy Hauser, Bobby Rodriguez, Sarah Saleem, Adrian Delgadillo, Jolanda Jones, Cherrise Traylor, Heidy and Hubert Escobar, Lee Shuchart, Mike “Griff” Griffin, and Tiffany and Ron Green.
