Stepping Up to Help a Special House

What: Ronald McDonald House of Dallas’ 2017 Under the Moonlight Gala
Where: The Westin Dallas Downtown
PC Moment: Support for the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD) flourished under the moonlight and high above downtown Dallas in the Pecan Ballroom of the Westin Dallas.
Attendees of the RMHD’s 2017 “Under the Moonlight” gala enjoyed cocktails, a fabulous dinner, a live auction and entertainment by the Spazmatics — all accompanied by a great nighttime view of the city. This was the first year the event was held at the Westin Dallas Downtown.
Each spring, this gala helps raise funds to support the 1,200 families it hosts throughout the year while their children are receiving treatment for illnesses or injuries at Dallas hospitals. All of the proceeds from a long list of generous sponsors benefitted RMHD.
“We were honored to have such amazing sponsors and chairs for Under the Moonlight’,” said Jill Cumnock, chief executive officer of RMHD. “It is through the support of sponsors like these that we are able to continue our important work helping keep families together.”
Established in 1981, the RMHD serves as a home-away-from-home for families who have traveled to Dallas seeking medical treatment for their seriously ill children. The service RMHD provides helps families stay together in a time of crisis and share their concerns with other families in similar situations. More than 36,000 families have been helped over the years, and while families are asked to contribute only $15 a night, no family is ever turned away for an inability to pay. Events like the “Under the Moonlight” help RMHD support these families in need.
Who: This year’s co-chairs Maggie Cooke Kipp and Heather Randall were joined by honorary co-chairs Marianne and Roger Staubach. Heather New and Becky Palm co-chaired underwriting, and Jane Rozelle and Rachel Michell co-chaired the live auction. Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, Teffy Jacobs and Nikki Webb were among those who showed their support.
