“Sold out.” What sweeter words could a chairwoman hear? That was the happy news reported by Bobbie Nau, chair of the Memorial Hermann Razzle Dazzle “Goes Royal” luncheon. The ninth annual fundraiser for the Bobetta C. Lindig Breast Center at Memorial Hermann Memorial City packed the Westin Memorial City Hotel ballroom with 600 men and women.
The “royal” in the luncheon theme was a nod to British designer Jenny Packham, whose designs are a favorite of the Duchess of Cambridge, aka Kate Middleton. As the event came to a close, Packham, courtesy of Elizabeth Anthony’s Julie Roberts, took the spotlight with fashion writer Clifford Pugh for a lively Q&A.
The program was as packed as the ballroom with Gina Gaston serving as emcee, Memorial Hermann Foundation CEO and EVP Anne Neeson sharing the breast center story, a video of and testimonial from breast cancer survivor Mia Trevillion-Barney, a tribute to honor the late Eileen Campbell and remarks from her daughters, a live auction, a raffle drawing for a $10,000 gift card to Tenenbaum Jewelers, and the Packham interview.
By the end of the program, Nau proudly announced that the luncheon had raised $500,000, which contributed to addition of the SAVI SCOUT surgical guidance system, an FDA-cleared medical device that provides real-time guidance during breast surgeries and procedures, to the center.
