A Golden Moment For Generous Houston Families: High-Style Luncheon Provides a Major Cross Country Hospital Assist

What: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital second annual Gold Luncheon

PC Moment: Philanthropic families were in the spotlight when patron’s of the charity hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, reached out for support among Houstonians. The nationwide hands-out is based on the hospital’s free services for children suffering from cancer and their families, no matter where they live in this country.

The hospital’s mission of “Finding cures. Saving Children” operates on a platform in which families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.  It is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. St. Jude patient Preslie and her mother Lara, shared the story of their successful experience with St. Jude.

The generous spirit of families was honored via the example set by Amy and Rob Pierce, Tammie and Dr. Charles Johnson, Shawntell and Keith McWilliams and Yasmine Haddad and her family. Applause, applause to chairs Sneha Merchant and Brigitte Kalai, who filled the hotel ballroom with a generous contingent that helped bring in record proceeds.

The serious message of the luncheon was accompanied by a note of levity with a fashion show of fresh and creative styles from Nha Khanh and Mysterious by NPN, (Nicholas Phat Nguyen) the presentation orchestrated by Angel Woolsey with models from Page Parkes.
