This Houston Best Dressed Dynamo Wins at Golf and Life — A Dec My Room Legacy and Three Dog Love
Uplifting Kids Stuck In the Hospital
By Shelby Hodge //
The Philanthropy in Fashion Houston Best Dressed honorees represent a cross section of backgrounds, interests and ages with two unifying characteristics. Each has an altruistic interest in contributing to the Bayou City and each has a defining style. The philanthropic femmes will be saluted on September 15 at a Post Oak Hotel luncheon benefiting March of Dimes.
In this new PaperCity series, we are profiling each of the 2026 Houston Best Dressed honorees leading up to the PaperCity Philanthropy in Fashion Houston Best Dressed Luncheon. Next Up: Second-time Best Dressed honoree Susan Plank.
Who would have that imagined when Susan Plank joined her then-teenage daughter Kendall Plank in 2007 to create Dec My Room that almost 20 years later the nonprofit would have expanded to fund personalized décor for more than 10,000 children’s hospital rooms at 218 hospitals across the country.
Bravo for the initiative that met a real need — providing personalized uplifting decor in the rooms of kids facing lengthy hospital stays.

While Susan Plank serves as Dec My Room president and co-founder, she extends her community involvement and support to Sunshine Kids, March of Dimes, Covenant House Texas, the University of Idaho Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial, and Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center.
Otherwise you might find her on a golf course in Telluride where Plank often takes first place in tournaments.
