Dallas’ Beloved Jewelry Store Moves West With a Flamingo Splash
A New Glamour Spot in Fort Worth
By Lisa Collins Shaddock //
After 33 years of building their business and becoming one of Dallas’ most beloved jewelry retailers, Ylang 23 owners Joanne and Charles Teichman and their VP of Business Development daughter Alysa Teichman decided to head west, with a second location in the Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth. The opening of the new doors was long-in-the-making and certainly gave reason to celebrate — and celebrate they did.
This was no ordinary affair, because what should shopping for jewels be if not fun?
Thanks to two flamingos (crafted out of rose petals by David Kimmel Design) flanking the entrance, guests got this impression right away. In addition to its sophisticated but flirty design elements — like a sectional upholstered in shocking pink velvet and artwork depicting Elizabeth Taylor as the most glamorous Cleopatra — the boutique’s interior was filled to the brim with bright florals, upbeat tunes by DJ Lucy Wrubel, and longstanding friends of the brand from both Dallas and Fort Worth.
All were enthusiastically on board with the idea that the more color — and the brighter — the better. This extended to everything from the tables of sweet treats (colorful swirled donuts dusted in glitter and gold stars and cereal bars drizzled with hot pink frosting) to the personalized aura photos and readings being done alongside glittering jewelry cases.
While a number of guests picked up a little something sparkly to commemorate the occasion, the neon flamingos as party favors ensured everyone took home something bright and, undeniably, fun.
