Free Concert Alert: Texas Original Set to Rock the CAMH
BY Matthew Ramirez // 08.06.15
A busy weekend for Texas-bred Jana Hunter (who lived in Houston before de-camping to Baltimore) begins Thursday, as she takes part in the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston’s continuing music-focused 20HERTZ lecture series. How Can You Be an Artist and Not Reflect the Times? examines her ideas about music’s role in social and political critiques of injustice, from past to present.
Friday, Hunter will be joined by her band, Lower Dens, in a free (with RSVP) concert at the CAMH. Garnering praise from Pitchfork, NPR and Vogue, Lower Dens are currently touring behind their third record, Escape from Evil. Hunter and her Lower Dens will also have a DJ set at Houston Watch Company (913 Franklin) Thursday, August 6, at 10 pm. 21+. Free.
