Deep Ellum Doings: In one of the the final art openings of the season, head to Barry Whistler Gallery and Kirk Hopper Fine Art this Saturday night. Each gallery rolls out a doubleheader. At Barry Whistler, investigate Danny Williams’ mysterious nocturnes, paired with a stellar group view of drawings. Meanwhile, Kirk Hopper leaps into the photo firmament, presenting solos for two Texans who employ photography in novel ways: Ansen Seale and Bryan Florentin. We’re wowed by Seale’s kaleidoscopic mandelas and also intrigued to see what Florentin has planned; he’s best known for his messily innovative installations. (All exhibitions through January 10).
