Theatre Under the Stars gala chairs Leticia and Steve Trauber and Cheryl and Louis Raspino are on cloud nine with announcement that Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel will be guest entertainer at TUTS 50th anniversary gala.
This extraordinary win for TUTS patrons has already made digital headlines in Playbill and Broadway World. Consider it something of an intimate dinner concert for the talented Broadway star who can never escape her role as Elsa in Disney’s Frozen, in which she sang the Oscar- and Grammy Award-wining song “Let It Go.”
The singer/songwriter is familiar to Houston audiences who might have seen her performing with Josh Groban at Toyota Center in October and her rounds with the Houston Symphony over the years.
“Idina is the perfect person to help us celebrate our 50th Anniversary Season,”Dan Knechtges, TUTS artistic director, said in a statement. “As a musical theatre icon, she is as singular in the entertainment world as Theatre Under The Stars is to Houston. She is going to blow the evening out of the water!”
You can’t expect tickets to come cheap at a 50th anniversary with this entertainment clout. You will need to have deep pockets or a sugar daddy to join the party on March 23 at the Post Oak Hotel. Tickets start at $3,000 per couple, with tables available from $15,000 to $100,000.
