The Best Museum Gift Shop Ever?
Nasher’s Buzzy Makeover Puts It in the Running, Wows Dallas Power Players

What: Celebrating Donald Fowler’s reimagining of the Nasher Store
Where: The Nasher Sculpture Center
PC Moment: Between the Seletti monkey lamp swinging from the ceiling to the crocodile bib necklace by Elizabeth Wimpress, the eyes and minds of those in attendance were simultaneously stimulated and satisfied.
A positively beaming Donald Fowler greeted friends and arts patrons, whose conversations buzzed and then trailed off again as they became entranced by Emmanuel Berry’s book of Rodin photographs or engaged in studying a puzzlingly beautiful object (what is that mesmerizing green sheen on those earrings? Actual beetle wings).
Also overheard: “I’ve never seen these outside of Paris!” (referring to the selection of IZIPIZI glasses). And, on everyone’s lips, “this is my new go-to gift shop” — whether for a lucky recipient or oneself.
Any one of the carefully curated offerings at Nasher Store, whether a witty gift card or a striking objet d’art, promise to add an elusive element of playful sophistication to any room, ensemble, or situation.
In an effort to be inclusive, custom “Future Art Critic” onesies Fowler had made for discerning littles hang alongside Salvador Dali-illustrated editions of Alice in Wonderland, elevating the gift game regardless of age.
