If you’re like me, you’re looking for enough wall space for the complete series of illustrations by Pop Art-inspired Instagram sensation Donald Robertson. The artist and his work reached a tipping point last year when his ironic sketches of creative giants such as Carine Roitfeld received applause from the subjects themselves. What came next were a lot of likes and follows, as well as an exhibition this past December in a friend’s Manhattan townhouse and designer Giles Deacon using Robertson’s flamingo motif for pieces in his 2015 resort collection. A J.Crew collaboration of women’s and children’s T-shirts is slated for this fall. For his latest project, Fashion is Nuts, Robertson takes on the zany world of style by caricaturing some of its greatest personalities with walnuts — a gentle reminder of the industry’s well-known kooks and the “wondrously mad” world they occupy. So, just who are the nutcases? Ten noteworthy nuts are depicted on walnuts for the limited-edition posters — including Anna Wintour as Alpha nut, Karl Lagerfeld as Über nut and Gabrielle Chanel as Coconut — priced $60, each, in editions of 100. All the nuts are also gathered into one 36-page zine ($40, edition of 1,000). fashionisnuts.com.
