The Woodlands Lands a New Luxury Movie Theater That Delivers Food to Your Seat

Cinepolis Jumps Into the Houston Area's Movie Theater Arms Race

BY

The Woodlands is about to strike gold when it comes to the silver screen. The area’s first-ever luxury dine-in theater is set to open in early November — in plenty of time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas movie blockbuster season.

Moviehouse and Cinepolis (which bought Moviehouse in July) are bringing a sleek, state-of-the-art Cinepolis movie theater to the Creekside Park shopping development.

Moviegoers can expect an all-out experience in the spacious, 42,000-square-foot cinema center. Think 833 cushy, fully reclining leather seats, an upscale lounge space for relaxing before and after the movie and service-on-demand at the push of a button at each and every seat.

The scratch menu is built around restaurant worthy food you won’t find at most movie theaters. Cinepolis will also boast a full bar of boozy beverages from hand-crafted cocktails to local craft beers and a carefully curated wine list.

Milkshakes are a must, and of course, it’s never a trip to the movies without a cherry ICEE.

But Cinepolis goes beyond the basics.

Starting in December, Cinepolis is putting a spin on Tuesdays. “Cinepolis Handpicked” will feature weekly showings with special discount tickets to a selection of curated films. Featured titles will cover all kinds of digitally mastered specialty content, including cult classics, oldies, seasonal specialties and even concert events and documentaries.

Cinepolis’ Woodlands movie theater center will measure in at 42,000 square feet.

The theater partnership is a match made in film heaven. Moviehouse is based in Texas, with five locations throughout Austin and Dallas, while its new owner and parent company Cinepolis hails from Mexico and boasts more than 400 movie theaters everywhere from Mexico City to Florida.

Both companies are veterans in the art of the dine-in movie theater concept.

The Woodlands Cinepolis is set to open in early November. Talk about things to give thanks for.

It’s been a big year for movie theaters in the Houston area. A posh new Star Cinema Grill is headed to Richmond/Katy, red carpet and all. It’s upping the ante, with recliner seats, premium pods with heated seats, food menu and full-service bar.

And let’s not forget Flix Brewhouse is coming to the Hub at Harvest Green.

Pass the popcorn. The movie theater wars are only just beginning.
