What could be more Texan than meat and beer? On Monday, April 13, Michael Collins (The Fish, The Refinery Burgers & Whiskey) and partner Jason Lowery (Proof Rooftop Lounge) open Bovine & Barley, an urban bar and eatery centered around this scrumptious duo, at 416 Main Street. The 3,400-square-foot space embraces an industrial feel — wood-beamed ceilings, custom wood banquettes and lighting fixtures covered in burlap coffee sacks from local favorite Katz Coffee. Meaty selections range from meatloaf muffins and brisket tacos to long-bone rib-eye, barbecue beef ribs and tenderloin head cut. The bar has 42 beers on tap, half of which serve local brews, and six taps dispense draft cocktails. If you’re not a beef eater, opt for the 1836 beer-can chicken or the ahi tuna salad with wasabi soy vinaigrette. Dine on the outdoor patio or reserve a private upstairs room equipped with a large projector-screen TV —perfect for rowdy Super Bowl parties.
