Budding Houston Restaurant King to Open a New Barbecue Spot
Instagram Reveals All —

Which cuisine does a seasoned restaurateur tackle after nailing everything from pizza and kolaches to fried chicken and donuts? Barbecue, of course.
Houston restaurant veteran Lee Ellis took to Instagram today to reveal his next endeavor, Ellis Brothers BBQ, which marks the sixth concept for his budding restaurant group. When Ellis debuted Cherry Pie Hospitality in April, we knew he’d be a force on the Houston food scene. What we didn’t expect, however, is how fast his domination would commence.
Over the past six months, Ellis debuted Texas-centric eatery State Fare; food truck turned brick-and-mortar restaurant Pi Pizza in partnership with chef Anthony Calleo; and his eponymous ice cream line Lee’s Creamery, which you can grab at Ellis’ longtime restaurant concepts — West Alabama bakery Petite Sweets, and Heights-based Lee’s Fried Chicken and Donuts.
While little information has been revealed about the future barbecue project, Ellis’ Instagram hashtags shed light on a few aspects to expect from the developing menu — low and slow barbecue featuring sausage, pork ribs, and brisket. A second photo showcased a brisket sandwich slathered with barbecue sauce and topped with house-made pickles and onions.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for an early 2017 opening.
