Houston’s Five Star Hotel Unveils New Sublime Sleep Suites — The Post Oak Teams Up With Swedish Mattress Maestros
When the Bed Is the Most Luxurious Part Of Your Stay
By Shelby Hodge //
There are luxury indulgences and then there are uber luxury indulgences, the latter of which I was the beneficiary of when the Five Star Post Oak Hotel and Hästens (the celebrated Swedish bedmaker) invited my husband and I to sample the hotel’s exclusive “Anything But Ordinary” Hästens sleep experience in one of the Houston hotel’s posh suites.
How rare to indulge in this high level of sumptuous and sublime mattress sleep in a hotel situation. Not just any hotel either as this grand property is Texas’s only Forbes Double Five Star rated hotel.
“We are proud to collaborate with The Post Oak Hotel, a property that shares our dedication to craftsmanship and enduring quality,” says Bradley Belen, partner and managing director of Hästens Texas and MadaLuxe Group’s home division. “This partnership offers guests a rare opportunity to experience Hästens in an environment that reflects the same level of care and attention to detail.”
Prior to checking in, I swanned over to Hästens in River Oaks District to sample the two bedding offerings: The 2000T mattress, which was developed in 1978 and refined continuously over the decades, and the hand-sewn Maranga, engineered to move fluidly with the body thus offering a surprising responsiveness subtle enough that the mattress maintains its signature gentle firmness. A win on both points.
I opted for the Maranga, which is available in the hotel’s Ambassador Suite, the Classic Suite and a Luxury King Room. How yummy to be assigned to the grand Ambassador Suite. The 32nd floor aerie with two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and a spacious living area offers 180 degree astounding views east and west to north, along with beautiful decor and an abundance of dazzling crystal chandeliers.
The 2000T bed is featured in Post Oak’s famed Penthouse Suite.

The Luxury Of Good Sleep
After my first night’s sleep on the Maranga bed, I was reminded of The Princess and the Pea fairy tale, the one in which the real princess could feel a pea buried beneath 20 mattresses and 20 eiderdown beds. I was convinced that Hans Christian Andersen’s princess would not feel a rock beneath this celebrated bedding.
Sleep well, we did. No achy shoulders or hips as the mattress gently caressed each body part. It was sublime sleeping, nighttime cosseting at is finest. On the second morning, my husband refused to leave the bed.
The Post Oak’s Ambassador Suite costs $1,499 per night. That is certainly not a staggering figure, especially considering the stylish surroundings and the full Maranga bedding component which retails for $24,980. Certainly, the “Anything But Ordinary” experience gives prospective Hästen purchasers the perfect opportunity for a true all night sampling sleep before buying.
“The Post Oak Hotel is committed to creating unmatched guest experiences defined by comfort, personalization and innovation,” hotel GM Steven Chou says. “Partnering with Hästens allows us to introduce a level of craftsmanship and precision that is seldom accessible in a hotel setting.”

Anyone can reserve The Post Oak’s “Anything But Ordinary” experience for overnight stays by booking the dedicated Hästens Suite, with the option to further explore Hästens through a personalized showroom consultation at River Oaks District, including complimentary round-trip transportation. Mattress prices begin at $16,000 and can rise to $700,000.
After all, what’s more of a luxury than a good night’s sleep?
