Krispy Kreme’s Long-Awaited Houston Return Means Free Donuts For a Year For Truly Dedicated Fans
By Faith Nguyen //
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is back in the Bayou City, and doughnut lovers across the city are rejoicing.
A legal settlement resulted in the closure of all Houston-area Krispy Kreme locations in 2006. In a statement about the closings,Steve Pangogos, who was then the company’s president, said Krispy Kreme planned to “re-establish stores in the area at the appropriate time.”
Nine years later, two Krispy Kreme locations are scheduled to open this month, one on Highway 6 and another at 8611 Westheimer Road. There’s no word on the official opening date for the Highway 6 spot – there have been multiple delays – but the Westheimer location will begin serving customers on Tuesday, November 3. The company said that the first 100 people willing to camp out the night before the opening would receive free donuts for a year.
Additional information about the grand opening and prizes can be found on Krispy Kreme’s Facebook page, and official rules for the event are on the company’s website.
