Houston Native’s New Personal Concierge Service Caters To Busy Executives, Families and Power Players — Lauren Gray’s Gray Door Arrives
When Making the Difficult and Near Impossible Happen Is a Specialty
By Shelby Hodge //
Third generation Texan and native Houstonian Lauren Gray knows how to open the doors to almost anything a sophisticate, an executive, or a busy family could possibly need or want taken care of. No surprise then that she has started a budding concierge service named Gray Door.
While Gray is just now hanging out her shingle so to speak, she has been answering the needs of friends and colleagues for most of her adult life.
“I think the idea for Gray Door was there long before I actually started the company,” Gray tells PaperCity. “I was already doing so many of these things for people simply because I loved it. Eventually, I realized I could turn something that came naturally to me into a business.”

Whether it is quickly finding 3,000 orange and blue balloons for Brasserie 19 in celebration of the Houston Astros’ 2022 World Series win, delivering 75 client gifts across Houston, or organizing a dinner party, this University of Texas grad was the one that friends and even friends of friends turned to over the years. For example, Lauren Gray helped a pal in desperate need secure a passport in less than six hours.
Need a room at the completely “sold out” Beverly Hills Hotel? She’s made that one happen before. And she can do it again.
This Houston girl does not take “No” or “No way” for an answer.
While helping pals was more an avocation, Gray earned her professional chops working side by side with Tiffany Masterson as she grew her Drunk Elephant skincare line from a Houston-based company into a globally recognized brand, culminating in its $845 million acquisition by Shiseido. It was an insider’s education for Gray that would have been unattainable anywhere else.

With the skin care line sold, Lauren Gray was free to choose her next professional course.
“Throughout my career, I saw firsthand just how valuable people’s time is,” she notes. “Eventually, I realized that something I’d been doing naturally for years was actually a service people valued and needed. Combined with my professional experience and the entrepreneurial influences around me, it felt like the perfect opportunity to build something of my own.”
Gray Door works in several ways depending on a client’s needs. One level provides ongoing personal or executive support while on another Gray Door works on an as-needed basis for individual projects, events, or specific requests. In addition to that support, the team handles everything from event planning, travel coordination and gifting to special projects. All with the height of discretion.
Gray Door already has a number of full-time concierge clients but revealing them is a no-no.
“One of the greatest luxuries in life is time,” Gray says. “You can always make more money, but you can’t make more time. If Gray Door can give people even a little of that back, then we’re doing exactly what I set out to do.”
