Although giving back is certainly something we strive to do on a regular basis, today we celebrate the seventh annual North Texas Giving Day, perhaps the most charitable of the year. More than 2,100 nonprofits (Equest, the Aging Mind Foundation, The Mac, Dallas Film Society, The Family Place, The American Cancer Society and SPCA of Texas, to name but a few) are participating in the online donation initiative — live from 6 a.m. to midnight — and several donation stations are also scattered throughout North Texas.
Not-to-be-missed: NorthPark Center, currently in the midst of its own charitable campaign, hosts the Dallas County donation station and the second annual KidsGive from 11 am to 2:30 pm. Kids can stuff goodie bags with toiletries for Attitudes & Attire; create sensory bottles for autistic students with Journey Learning Center; make welcome baskets for Texas Baptist Home for Children and more; plus, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra will give a live performance and the Dallas Mavericks Dancers will electrify the crowd to close out the event.
