ROCO’s 17th season “Musical Threads” opens Saturday, September 25 at 5:00 pm Central with ROCO In Concert: Bursting at the Seams, sponsored by the Albert and Margaret Alkek Foundation, featuring the full 40-piece chamber orchestra in a program featuring two world premieres and joyful works for orchestra—live in-person at The Church of St. John the Divine, and livestreamed free at ROCO.org, Facebook, and YouTube!
Artistic Partner Mei-Ann Chen returns to the podium, leading ROCO in the world premiere of the first movement of Maxime Goulet’s Ice Storm Symphony, Turmoil, telling the story of Canada’s historic, devastating 1998 ice storm, and also in the world premiere of Marcus Maroney’s OK, Goodbye. for flute, viola d’amore, and chamber orchestra, inspired by the melting of the Icelandic Okjökull glacier, and spotlighting soloists Christina Jennings and Matt Dane.
Sharing our delight to be back in performance with our audiences, Michael Abels’ Delights & Dances and Domenico Cimarosa’s “Il Maestro di Cappella” Overture complete the program—plus, look out for a ROCO surprise!
