La Jungla is an immersive femme, queer, and music forward sound, visual, and movement-based art experience featuring sounds from Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Co-founding DJs Yanna and MLE started the event as a way to celebrate their Caribbean heritage in a femme and LGBTQIA+ centered environment. Representing their hometowns of Miami and Houston and their Trinidadian and Panamanian heritage, they aim to introduce their unique cultural outlook to the community through music and community fellowship. La Jungla Fest will feature guest DJs Maldita Vaina (Dominican Republic) and Mamicana (NYC) and will take place at Casa Luz in Second Ward. The event is produced by Diablo Rojo Sound and funded in part by the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance. Drinks are included for free with ticket purchase and generously sponsored by Santa Teresa Rum.
