What

Houston-based author, Timothy Gene Sojka, will be at Houston’s oldest operating hotel, The Sam Houston, Curio Collection by Hilton, on Saturday, April 24th for a book signing and Q&A in celebration of his 2021 thriller, Payback Jack. The fictional book’s first chapter features a politically charged assassination committed on the fourth floor of the 1980’s dilapidated Sam Houston Hotel.

From 11 a.m. – 1 p.m Tim will be signing books before the 1 p.m. – 2 p.m tour of the hotel’s fourth floor, which served as the setting of the assassination in the book’s first chapter, then he will resume signing books and answer questions from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Texas-themed snacks and drinks will be provided.

For those who would like to stay over the weekend, the hotel will be offering a special package available Friday and Saturday night that includes a bottle of Gnarly Head 1924 wine in honor of the year the hotel was built and complimentary valet parking for $149 per night. Guests can book via the following link: http://group.curiocollection.com/4wyg5

Originally built in 1924 as a downtown landmark, The Sam was almost lost to time, sitting vacant and rotting in Houston’s 1980’s bust. Sojka uses the musty, dark, haunted 1980’s Sam in his period novel. However, in 2004 The Sam was lovingly remodeled into one of downtown Houston’s premier hotels.
