What’s your favorite thing about the holiday season?
Marcus: My favorite part of the holidays is New Years Eve. Not because we have a big blow out, but because you wake up the next day and have a positive attitude about being better in the new year – the mood is fresh, new and full of unlimited possibilities.
Shannon: FOOD!!! Its a wonderful time where people share homemade food gifts, which is such a luxury to a non-cooker like myself.
What is the worst gift someone has given you?
Marcus: Shannon and I are probably two of the hardest people to buy gifts for, as we have access to gifts! No bad ones come to mind, but lots of great ones do – especially the tequila ones!
Shannon: Marcus, hands down. And I’m sure he would say the same of me. Because of our occupation we travel and see things and pretty much get whatever we want. We kind have information overload. So when it comes time to surprise him with something special, it’s always a major chore.
What’s your motto for the holidays?
Marcus: Be nice, be good, so Santa will bring tequila!
Shannon: Keep it simple. I’ve always been conscious that in some ways, as store owner, I am part of the “problem” of the commercialization of Christmas. I always hope that when people shop at Sloan/Hall they are buying gifts as a genuine expression of love for the recipient.
