The Mashburns know a thing or two about what people want. The dynamic duo’s namesake Houston shops, their second set of boutiques outside their hometown of Atlanta, has gained cult-status for being a go-to place for stylish men’s and women’s fashion, accessories and more. Here, a few items for the holidays they’ll be giving.
What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?
Sid: More people, more love, more happiness… not so much in the sense of more stuff, but more good vibes and generosity. I really just love the atmosphere of helping people make their holiday great – there are a lot of gifting dilemmas. People come in, we get to connect & share & they leave with their problem solved and a smile on their face. Ann and I usually work in the shops on Christmas Eve and love the last-minute pace and spirit…
Ann: family – the best thing Sid and I ever did was have a big family. Christmas morning is so fantastic. We are pretty militant about one present at a time, slowly, in order from youngest to oldest, so we go around and around and really stretch out the morning until a very late breakfast. All of the sisters get really into the gift selection and are so silly and thoughtful so it’s mostly a lot of laughing and enjoying each other.
What is the worst gift someone has given you?
Sid AND Ann: we are so excited to get anything that we both racked our brains trying to think of something – painted rocks? even the worst gift with the hopeful heart of the giver kind of kills us….
Who is the hardest person to shop for each year?
Sid: Ann
Ann: Sid
What’s your motto for the holidays?
Ann: Start late finish first.
Sid: love and happiness.. again… which is my favorite motto always.
