Astromania Hits Some of the City’s Hottest Closets
What to Wear to the World Series

The fashionistas have worn their Astros jerseys one too many times. And, really, how often can you wear the same blue and orange outfit? After all, there have been a bundle of playoff games. That explains the rush through the city’s retailers as fashion savvy Astros fans seek the chic in game day attire.
“We’ve been getting so many phone calls on what to wear to the game,” says Tootsies creative director Fady Armanious. “Do we have any navy? Do we have any orange?”
Thursday afternoon, Kristina Somerville, who recently chaired Houston Grand Opera’s opening night celebration, was among those looking. Consider if you are holding Astros tickets with seats within shot of the national TV cameras, a girl’s gotta look her best.
Happily, Armanious had pulled together an entire rack of fashions that spoke to the Astros colors. The rack was loaded with denim by DL, a jacket by Alice + Olivia, BCBG, Trina Turk, Victoria by Victoria Beckham, Mother Jeans, Tibi, and more.
Kristina settled on the bright orange flounced top from Victoria by Victoria Beckham, which she will wear with navy jeans and her new Rag & Bone navy blue boots. I, for one, loved the navy velvet Aquazzura booties embellished with pearls. But that perhaps would be a bit much for Minute Maid Park, even if it is the World Series.
Other fashionable gals to look for behind home plate would include Astros owner Jim Crane‘s wife Whitney, Sheridan Williams, Terri Havens, Janet Gurwitch and, if she’s not watching from the owner’s suite, model Kate Upton. Justin Verlander‘s glamorous fiance has been captured on the TV cameras throughout the season.
