A Pokemon Bar is Opening Up in Houston, But There’s a Catch
Bar Creatures of a Whole Different Type are Coming
By Annie Gallay //
When it comes to bar-hopping in Houston, you don’t want to miss out. From dives to cocktail lounges, beer gardens to Irish pubs, it’s easy to feel like you gotta catch ‘em all.
And sometimes you can — Pokemon style.
That’s because one upcoming bar stands above the rest. It’s a two-night-only kind of deal, and definitely one you don’t want to miss. Need a hint? Think childhood nostalgia, with a dash of grown-up, no-holds-barred, night on the town.
If you guessed an epic pop-up PokeBar you were right on the money.
This Pokemon-themed pop-up is hitting Space City this January — location TBD.
You could call it the ultimate combination of booze and Bulbasaur, spirits and Psyduck, liquor and Lapras, alcohol and Alakazam.
If you thought Pokemon Go was a riot, you haven’t seen anything yet. This goes beyond the digital and into real life, with live-action.
On January 11 and 12, you can catch Pokemon, evolve them and win serious points to your heart’s content.
The pop-up bar is divvied up into seven separate regions where you can hunt, battle and catch the critters for two hours each.
The entertainment is endless, with throwback opportunities like classic card battles, plus modern, giant interactive games, action stations and even trivia to test your knowledge.
Pikachu Surprises
Playing a full-on Pokemon trainer, you win points at these games to evolve your Pokemon. At the end of the day, the team with the highest evolved Pokemon will be crowned champions, with fitting prizes to boot.
But don’t worry if you’re a little rusty. You can win mini-prizes throughout the session. There’s even a costume contest for all you cosplayers out there, not to mention photo opps with a cuddly little Detective Pikachu.
The surprise Pokemon-themed cocktails are reason enough. But don’t forget, your ticket will include a Pokemon-themed burger and drink. The burgers come with some seriously impressive Pokemon buns, like the bright yellow pointed-eared Pikachu.
We’re just praying the meat didn’t come from Tauros.
Limited tickets are available and sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. It’s easy to sign up for pre-sale tickets online.
