Christian Siriano‘s frothy, feminine looks for spring resonated with the throng that turned out at Elizabeth Anthony for a preview of the designer’s inaugural collection for 2018 and for a signed copy of his fresh-off-the press book, Dresses to Dream About. The fact that at age 32 the youthful designer has already published a retrospective of his work is clear evidence of the impact that this darling of the fashion set is having on the American design scene.
The book chronicles Siriano’s design and construction process while featuring some of the most spectacular gowns and dresses he has created since winning Season 4 of Project Runway. More than 30 pieces are featured in the book that details the design methodology beginning with his original sketches, “a flat piece of paper that ultimately turns into a three-dimensional form.”
The ladies of all ages lined up to have a word with the diminutive designer and to snag his signature on the colorful tome. Add the endless photo opps as adoring fans grabbed selfies and posed with Siriano as the professional photographers clicked away.
The ladies and a handful of gents oohed and aahed over the show-stopping looks for spring 2018 that were colorful and featured a wealth of flounces, peplums and trains. Heavy brocades, bold swaths of color and an abundance of flowers defined the presentation.
Julie Roberts, owner of the Uptown Park boutique, welcomed guests who shopped not only the Siriano presentation but also the racks brimming with of-the-moment looks from Reem Acra, Escada, Yigal Azrouel and more.
