Dallas’ Own Project Runway?
A Top Galleria Department Store Throws Down a Challenge
By Alexis Bierman //
Here’s to all aspiring fashion designers who spend Thursday nights watching Project Runway, scoffing at the TV when an unfortunate ensemble comes down the runway while insisting to peers that their designs would be much better. Thanks to Belk, challenge accepted.
The department store, which has a space in the Galleria Dallas, is seeking fashion designers with a deep connection to the South to enter its fourth annual Southern Designer Showcase. Need some motivation? Just look at Dallas’ own Lucy Dang, who took home the prize in 2013 and went on to win a Rising Star award from Fashion Group International of Dallas last year.
Lucky finalists will be invited to Belk headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday, May 19, to show their creations to a panel of senior company executives; the grand prize winner’s designs will be sold online and in stores come spring 2017. The winning collection may also be featured in upcoming ad campaigns.
The entry period ends Thursday, March 31 — click here to apply.
