New Louis Vuitton Perfume Launches With its Own Emma Stone Mini Movie
Coeur Battant is No Ordinary Scent
By Steven Hempel //
Coeur Battant, the 10th in a line of perfumes offered by Louis Vuitton, comes with its own Emma Stone mini movie. Like many of the top fashion houses, Vuitton worked to create its own, in-house perfumery, launching its own line of scents in 2016.
The latest perfume is a blend of exceptional raw materials and was conceived and composed by master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud at Louis Vuitton’s Grasse estate. Belletrud is a third generation perfumer who was hired in 2012 to develop the brand’s in-house efforts.
Coeur Battant marks his latest creation and is inspired by travel and adventure and the emotions they conjure. The perfume combines floral notes from the Egyptian Jasmine with cool, crisp notes of pear and a chypré base of pure patchouli and moss.
It also brings some serious star power.
In conjunction with the launch, Louis Vuitton is rolling out its second fragrance film campaign. Directed by award-winning French director Romain Gavras, the short features Louis Vuitton spokesperson and Academy Award winner Emma Stone on an emotional journey.
It begins on the Italian island of Capri, set to the spectacular backdrop of Casa Malaparte (famously used as a set for Jean-Luc Godard’s Le Mépris moviein 1963.) These artistically driven videos solidify the glamour and style of the fragrance and the brand.
As Stone’s journey continues, it moves to the Cour Carree, the “beating heart” of Paris, where we find a magical field of flowers. The film spans day to night, with Stone experiencing passion, joy and melancholy while dancing, dreaming and ultimately diving into the ocean as she awaits a reunion with her loved one.
The short will debut on November 17 and is followed by a print campaign, shot by photographer Mikael Jansson.
Coeur Battant is available at select Louis Vuitton stores in the following sizes: $250 (100ml) / $360 (200ml) / $250 (4×7.5ml travel spray). Get a look at the video:
