London Glamour Hits Highland Park Village in a Sparkly New Pop-Up Store
Why Everyone is Buzzing Over Galvan
By Christina Geyer //
If you’ve been hearing quite a bit about Galvan London around town, there’s good reason why. The British fashion house, led by co-founders Katherine Holmgren and Carolyn Hodler, has made its first foray into Dallas.
The festivities started earlier this week, with a trunk show and cocktail party hosted by fashionable mother-daughter duo Elaine Agather and Bradley Agather Means, with Brooke Davenport and Deborah Scott.
Galvan is known for its festive, sequined covered frocks that are exceedingly glamorous — though never garish. Those sparkly wares, FYI, are all for sale via Galvan’s darling little pop-up shop in Highland Park Village, through Saturday. Pop upstairs as if you were going to the HP Village corporate offices, and you won’t miss it.
Last night, though, proved a most shimmering moment for the Galvan gals, as Davenport and Scott hosted an intimate group of fashionable types for dinner chez Davenport. Scott, of course, sported a Galvan jumpsuit, while Davenport wore a gorgeous fringed number from the brand’s spring collection.
Most of the party contingent was also sporting Galvan, including Zoe Bonnette in a blue velvet jumpsuit and Charlotte Jones Anderson in a black-and-white jumpsuit. (No doubt, Scott, who loves a good jumpsuit — she goes by @jumpsuitfetish on Instagram — was thrilled at the showing.)
Elisa Summers, Stephanie Seay and Caroline Summers all sported Galvan sequined tops — very apropos for the holiday season and its swarm of cocktail parties that is fast approaching.
The collection mustn’t be missed: Resort is predominantly featured in the Highland Park Village pop-up salon, with pieces inspired by artist John Baldessari, from his colored-dot faces to his black-and-white graphic photography.
As for my favorite piece? It’s a sequined, rose-gold slip dress — one that I envision wearing with a cropped, white-fur jacket to some sort of Christmas fete. It will, I’ve decided, be my version of a modern-day Sugar Plum Fairy.
Galvan London pop-up shop, 47 Highland Park Village, 10 am to 6 pm, through Saturday, November 17, galvanlondon.com.
