Customize Your Own Shades

The laid back energy of Venice Beach and West Coast spirit inspires Garrett Leight’s eyewear label, Garret Leight California Optical.
He’s eyewear royalty — his father is Larry Leight, founder of Oliver Peoples.
With Garrett Leight stores in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, he is set to debut his first Texas shop in Knox-Henderson on Friday, October 20, stocking his spin on vintage-inspired, retro and classic optical and sunglass collections.
There’s also hot collaborations with Los Angeles designer Clare V., menswear designer Mark McNairy, and style maker Nick Wooster, Forty Five Ten’s men’s fashion director.
Beneath a color-changing light installation, Leight offers an in-house lab for on-demand customization — such as dip-dyeing lenses.
“I recently had my Van Buren Sun lenses customized with a lighter tint,” Garrett says. “I love that I have something that feels unique to me.”
