Austin-based menswear shop Stag opened last week in Knox-Henderson, following the opening of its second store in Venice, California. With a nod to Steve McQueen, Michael Caine, Keith Richards and Willie Nelson, Stag’s aesthetic marries rugged with dapper, vintage classics and the unexpected with the nostalgic, creating a distinct vibe. In addition to new brands and exclusives the store plans to introduce, debonair gents can now shop Stag staples, including Faherty Brand, Oliver Peoples, Billykirk, Jack Spade, Life/After/Denim, Ralph Lauren RRL, and Save Khaki. And it’s not just a clothing boutique: Stag also stocks a unique mix of home accessories, furniture, books, artwork and vinyl records that appeal to the modern gentleman. The 1,300-square-foot temp space on Travis Street serves as Stag’s entrée into the Dallas market; co-owners Steve Shuck and Don Weir are planning a permanent move to a 2,400-square-foot space on Cole Street later next year. Says Shuck, “Since launching in Austin in 2009, we’ve been fortunate enough to develop a loyal Dallas customer both online and in our Austin shop. We think the Knox-Henderson area is a great place for us to introduce our Dallas store as it attracts a good mix of local and tourists and has a great neighborhood feel.” Stag, 4539 Travis Street, Dallas, 214.599.2143, stagprovisions.com.
