The Best Halloween Costumes For Women
Your Essential Guide —
By Ashley McElmurry //
Finding the right Halloween costume can be quite the task. Inspiration for a night of playing dress-up surrounds us, but narrowing down is the difficult part. We’ve put together a few personas lifted straight from the screen.
Channel your inner Prohibition-era gal or Gatsby-style Roaring ’20s babe with a basic metallic dress and faux-fur stole, feathers, boa and crimson lips. In search of something classic? Take a trip to Tiffany’s in a little black dress, a sweep of pearls, black gloves and French twist. From the ’60s classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s, a Holly Golightly-inspired look is chic and subtly sexy.
If you’re crafty and you know it, put together a simple Mary Poppins look. Start with the blue skirt, fitted jacket and black pork-pie hat shown above, add a few flowers and a white blouse, and you’re ready for a night full of sugar!
Luckily this fall, we’ve seen a profusion of ’70s houndstooth skirts and yellow hues — perfect for a Marcia Brady costume. A patterned skirt paired with a solid turtleneck will have everyone shouting, “Marcia!, Marcia!, Marcia!”
If a trip down memory lane doesn’t suit you, get together with the girls and dress up as Bad Blood squad. Slip into your leather boots and accessorize with gold and friends for a night filled with catastrophe.
