What: Design in Bloom
Where: Houston Design Center
An all-star lineup of design industry talent converged when Houston Design Center hosted Flower Magazine‘s third annual Design in Bloom, in coordination with Texas Design Week Houston, including designer Ray Booth; architect Bobby McAlpine; floral designer Laura Dowling, chief floral designer at the White House from 2009 to 2015; and landscape designer Keith Williams. They gathered in the Leisure Collections showroom for a panel discussion on their areas of expertise. Margot Shaw, Flower Magazine founder and editor in chief, led the program.
The full day of design events, attended by 150 design professionals and enthusiasts, spread throughout the center, with Booth (Evocative Interiors, Rizzoli) and McAlpine (Poetry of Place, Rizzoli) at James Craig Furnishings; Williams signing The Graphic Garden at Thorntree Slate & Marble; and Dowling presenting her design talent with masses of fresh blossoms at Leisure Collections. VIP guests were invited to the James Craig Furnishings showroom for the Design in Bloom luncheon, where the headliners mingled.
The evening ended with cocktails and book signing with Ray Booth at the new Hickory Chair showroom and Meredith O’Donnell Fine Furniture, for Design in Bloom and Texas Design Week Houston ticket holders.
