When we take a road trip, we pack a list of the best design shops for inspiration and to scour for local treasures. We queried more than 40 interior designers to see where they pull over to shop in Dallas and beyond.

Anyon Atelier | 5238 Milam

New! A breezy San Francisco home furnishings store, Anyon Atelier opens this month in Dallas with furniture, lighting, accessories, and artwork from Kufri, Fong Brothers, the Lacquer Company, and Studio Henry Wilson. 

Benny Jack Antiques | 1026 N. Riverfront Blvd. and 1920 N. Haskell Ave.

Owner Benny Hinkle spent almost two decades at White Elephant Antiques before opening his two treasure-filled emporiums. The Haskell location, next to his wife’s Dolly Python vintage fashion store, is filled with the oddities for which Hinkle, while the Riverfront location (the former White Elephant Antiques space) is larger, with furniture and art. Both are multiple-vendor stores, carefully assembled by Hinkle.

Blue Print | 2707 Fairmount St.

This precious boutique in a bungalow with blue doors has a wide array of antiques, furniture, modern light fixtures, art, tabletop, and accessories, and is owned by five interior designers. The room settings are imaginative, fresh, and livable. Don’t miss the contemporary art gallery next door. The team has recently opened a showroom in the Dallas Design District as well. 

Caitlin Wilson Home Decor & Design | 2923 N. Henderson Ave.

Product designer and decorator Caitlin Wilson offers up her collections of textiles and wallpapers, as well as antique-inspired Persian rugs, pillows, lighting, furniture, and more in a precious storefront.

Carol Piper Rugs | 1209 Slocum St., Suite 100

Carol Piper and her colleague Sanaa Sahi have a passion for art and textiles, dealing with the finest antique and decorative carpets from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and specializing in extraordinary, hard-to-find antique rugs and textiles.

Ceylon et Ci | 1319 Dragon St.

A Wunderkammer of treasure culled from owner/designer Michelle Nussbaumer’s travels and passionate collecting, from a black Cameroon table, Moroccan pots, 18th-century Mexican paintings, and engravings to Michelle’s own collections of furniture, wallpapers, textiles, and pillows.

Chad Dorsey Design | 1316 Slocum St. 

Designer Chad Dorsey’s showroom space is filled with the muscular, handsome furniture and objects that permeate his interiors projects. Strike, his stunning collection of fireplace surrounds carved in stone, can also be found here. 

Coco & Dash | 2819 N. Henderson Ave.

Look for pillows and lampshades by Coco & Dash, as well as new and antique furniture, accessories, art, lighting, and textiles.

Commerce Goods + Supply | 1321 Commerce St.

Home of local and worldwide storied makers and their product, through the lens of Christine Visneau. It’s the perfect mix of artisan goods and elevated essentials, located inside the historic Adolphus Hotel. 

The Conservatory on Two | 100 Highland Park Village

The Conservatory on Two was conceived as the intersection of brick-and-mortar and e-commerce by retail visionary Brian Bolke. The stunning 9,000-square-foot loft-like space serves as a comprehensive gallery for fashion, jewelry, and apothecary, along with home goods and design from Saved NY, Georg Jensen, Tina Frey, Tortus, Lobmeyr, Moro Dabron, and Serax. Don’t miss the Brian Bowl at the Teak Tearoom.

Dunbar Road Design | 5021 W. Lovers Lane

A mix of Palm Beach and Dallas. Owner Carla Fonts pairs vintage furniture (some lacquered in her brilliant hues), with seashell mirrors, blue-and-white pagoda tulipiers, plaster wall brackets, rattan pillars and urns, de Gournay panels, and vintage monkey dishes.

Garde | 1505 Wycliff Ave., Suite 160

A stunning showroom, owned by Scotti Sitz and John Davidson, that artfully showcases unique and talented artists, designers, ceramicists, and furniture makers from around the world, from Faye Toogood to Simon Hasan, Robin Whiteman, and Michaël Verheyden, with furniture and lighting from Pierre Augustin Rose, De La Espada, Mandy Graham, Agnes Studio, Apparatus, and so much more — furniture, ceramics, textiles, tabletop accessories, and scents. Garde also has showrooms in L.A. and Summerland. 

Grange Hall | 4445 Travis St.

Grange Hall is a first stop for design-savvy travelers to Dallas, stocking unusual designer goods and finds, oddities, luxury objects, accessories, tabletop, and small furnishings, as well as apothecary and jewelry, all assembled by owners Rajan Patel and Jeffrey Lee. Don’t miss lunch at the stunning restaurant.

Jan Showers | 1308 Slocum St.

Designer Jan Showers did much to introduce glamorous French ’40s furnishings and Murano lamps and accessories in her 25 years as a designer. Her highly refined showroom has vintage and antique furniture, lighting, and accessories gathered during her European excursions. Furniture from her to-the-trade Jan Showers Collection may also be directly purchased from her showroom.

Joseph Minton Antiques | 1411 Slocum St.

A unique selection of English, French, and Continental furniture and objects collected by legendary designer Joseph Minton. Chic and unusual pieces from around the world, as well as fabulous antique garden pieces.

Lamp Shoppe | 1515 Dragon St.

This custom lamp and shade showroom also carries antique furnishings and accessories with an endless selection of fabrics, trims, treatments, lamp bodies, shades, hanging pendants, and finials. Also on offer, a large selection of antique porcelains (Delft, faience, famille rose, famille verte, Chinese blue and white, Jean Roger) and antique furnishings and accessories.

Owner/designer Laura Lee Clark Falconer stocks such lines as Julian Chichester, Niermann Weeks, Decca Home, Scala Luxury, Kathy Slater Design Collection, Heather Essian, Megan Adams, Nichola Taylorson, Windy O’Connor, and Laura Park, as well as vintage furniture, fabrics, and accessories.

Legacy Antiques | 1406 Slocum St.

The recently expanded 15,000-square-foot showroom stocks a large selection of 18th- and 19th-century European antiques, with an emphasis on antique chandeliers (a beautiful cache of Murano lighting) and mirrors, as well as fine mid-century furnishings and decorative accessories. Owned by the Garrett family.

A precious shop where owners Mia Brous and Kerri Goldfarb showcase custom headboards and tables, case goods, lighting, pillows, bedding, and mirrors, as well as Mahjong tables, a collaboration between Madre X The Mahjong Line.

Matt Camron Rugs & Tapestries | 401 Exposition Ave.

Antique rugs, hand-woven modern rugs, flat weaves, vintage, kilims, and custom designs. A forte is reinventing rug designs and creating luxury rugs in styles from Scandinavian to Bauhaus, working with weavers across the world to preserve the tradition of handmade carpets.

Mecox | 5360 W. Lovers Lane, Suite 308

Opened in Southampton in 1996. Owners Mac Hoak and Fred Perkins assemble a stunning collection of furnishings and garden decor with a mix of vintage furniture and antiques, original art, lighting, and home and garden accessories.

Muse on Slocum | 1201 Slocum St.

A vast resource of antiques, furniture, accessories, and lighting. Owners Virgil Barber and Aaron Osborn split their time between Palm Beach and Dallas, and have access to fine estates in Beverly Hills, Chicago, and Palm Beach. Past inventory has included a Bahamian-style 1920s chandelier from the home of John Kluge, the Bel Air estate of Zsa Zsa Gabor, as well as Fortuny lighting, European grand tour statues, Minton-Spidell consoles, and shell-encrusted grotto pieces.
