Design Maven’s Coveted Treasure Trove Gets its Own Trunk Show in Dallas: Rare, Much Desired Pieces Available

BY // 11.26.18

Design connoisseur Russell Brightwell‘s coveted trove of objets comes from a lifetime of traveling, collecting and scholarly study. The former Houston advertising executive turned his passion for acquiring beautiful things into a full-time gig earlier this year, when he moved to Dallas.

By appointment, Brightwell’s one-room Parry Avenue loft also becomes a unique retail setting. The interior is impeccably arranged, with roughly 500 decorative objects, works of art, books, and furnishings available to peruse and purchase.

A trunk show of Brightwell’s collection will be held Wednesday, December 5 through Friday, December 7, at Embree & Lake in the Dallas Design District. Look for contemporary design objects, ceramics, art and out of print art, fashion and design books, along with Marc Lake’s collection of antique and contemporary furniture and accessories. Talented stylist Jimmie Henslee has created sumptuous vignettes for the popup, showing how antiques and contemporary collections can live together, stylishly.

Brightwell’s sought-after inventory ranges from a 1970s Pollo vase by Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal to a blanket designed by British artists Jake and Dinos Chapman for Louis Vuitton. He usually has several Swid Powell pieces on offer, such as large silver candlesticks designed by Richard Meier and Robert A.M. Stern. Also look for highly collectable pieces by Memphis designer Ettore Sottsass, Cabana Magazine’s limited edition Gucci Box, and a KAWS figure under acrylic.
