What: A reception and book signing with Veere Grenney
Where: Schumacher‘s Dallas Design District showroom
PC Moment: The cover of acclaimed English designer Veere Grenney’s first book, A Point of View: On Decorating (Rizzoli, $65) tells you much about what to find on its pages within: a tight, close-up view of an elegant mantle, accessorized with an eclectic mix of unframed photographs, objet d’art, and plucked-from-the garden florals against a warm, peachy-pink wall. There couldn’t be a more concise visual summary.
The book runneth over with personal stories from Grenney’s 30-year design career, images from his own homes — including his first London flat and his stunning holiday home in Tangier — and myriad pages of design inspiration from the designer’s impressive portfolio of work, all tempered with his signature, homey warmth and classic British sensibility.
This is a book that begs to be paged through slowly and with a hot cup of tea — or, celebrated among stylish friends and sumptuous fabrics, which is exactly what we did in the Dallas Design District’s Schumacher showroom in honor of Grenney and his tome. Schumacher manager James Campbell, along with Schumacher president Benni Frowein in from New York City, greeted guests for cocktails while Grenney graciously signed copies of his book with flair. It made for an evening that was, in a single word, lovely.
