Tiger Woods is the name that instantly draws people to Bluejack National. This wooded wonderland just north of Houston in Montgomery is the only Tiger Woods-designed golf course in America.
In truth, that probably would have been more than enough to sell a boatload of memberships and plenty of houses. The drawing power of Tiger Woods is undeniable.
Only the visionaries behind Bluejack National wanted something more. They wanted to create one of the best golf communities in the world. Yes, Bluejack National could have just lived off its Tiger Woods aura. But it’s much more than that.
Bluejack is a place where parents get quality time with their kids in a unique environment (one where they’ll almost volunteer to put down their screens). It’s a land of architecturally interesting houses rather than anything cookie cutter or golf course home standard. It’s a place with more amenities than most five star resorts. It’s a place where nature reigns — one where you can lose yourself in 35 acres of fishing lakes and seven miles of hiking, biking and running trails.
In full, Bluejack National is a place where lifetime memories are made, one that makes the most of your precious time.
There is a reason Bluejack now stands as Golfweek‘s No. 1 rated residential golf community in Texas (and No. 8 in the entire United States). The Tiger course with its cut of velvety Zoysia grass is an essential part of that. But The Fort means just as much.
Bluejack National’s Fort is one of the most complete (and coolest) playlands you’ll ever find. There are resort-style swimming pools with something of a mini waterpark. 150-foot long water slide? Check. Splash pad for the littlest ones? Check.
There are also bowling lanes, a game room, a movie theater, a football field, basketball courts and most surprising of all, a complete mini “Fenway Park.” Green Monster wall included.
This little “Fenway” which makes whiffle ball a modern dream, has to be seen to be believed. It’s the type of thing that makes both kids and adults nearly squeal with delight on first sight.
The mini Fenway is among the many amenities for father-son, father-daughter, mom-son, mom-daughter quality time an easy joy.
Home Life
Owning one of the 400 private homes at Bluejack National (either as a main residence or second home retreat) puts its amenities at your beck and call. Some residents just spend weekends at Bluejack. In many ways, it’s a vacation destination of its own.
Unlike many golf course communities that try to dictate that every house looks the same, Bluejack National allows its homeowners to select from a variety of builders. These select high-end builders — TIPLER, Jeff Paul Custom Homes, K&C Classic Homes, Morning Star Builders, Dream Works Properties and Texas Elite Custom Homes – will work with you to craft a dream home that fits into Bluejack’s wooded setting.
Most of the homes feature large porches that provide the perfect perch to hang out and enjoy the fresh air and tranquility. Bluejack National may be within 50 miles downtown Houston, but it feels like it’s a whole other world away.
Homes on the custom lots are at least 3,000 square feet. These are elegant homes in every sense — including the idea of finding such a peaceful, largely undisturbed setting in the greater Houston area.
This is part of what drew Tiger Woods to this site. The rolling hills and all the trees, including the rare Bluejack oaks that give the course its name, stand out. While Woods could have made a punishing golf course in this setting, his design philosophy is to grow the game.
He went out of his way to design one that almost everyone can enjoy. He even included a 10-hole par 3 course next door dubbed The Playgrounds that is anything but a throwaway. And it has lights to play until Midnight!
“From a design standpoint, I try to create options, to make it friendly, but challenging for all levels,” Tiger Woods said shortly after the course’s debut.
With its tall trees, striking white sand bunkers and green everywhere, Bluejack National looks like Texas’ version of Augusta National in some respects. More importantly, this place has that type of vibe. A luxury getaway that doesn’t require a flight.
Good golf is revered here, but so is family fun. There are a lot of golf communities. But one quickly gets the sense that there is only one Bluejack National.
