Dallas’ Famous Round House Brings a $1.7 Million Asking Price and Character Galore

The Ultimate James Bond and Brady Bunch Mashup?

When a house earns itself a nickname among locals, you know it’s a special property. This is certainly the case with the Round House, one of Dallas’ most iconic works of mid-century modern architecture – and it just hit the market.

The Round House, aka 7507 Baxtershire Drive, is what I’d call a statement home. Completed in 1962, it is the epitome of suburban-glam mid-century living. The eccentric structure was created by Eddie Parker, protege of renowned architect Bruce Goff, who heavily inspired the design. The retro spirit of the home has remained largely intact over the years, despite some necessary updates.

Would you like to feel like you’re living in Mad Men? Have an affinity for dinner parties and poolside cocktails? In search of a well-rounded home with plenty of character? This is the place for you.

The 5,814-square-foot, one-story house has campy curb appeal right off the bat with its stone exterior and spacious center courtyard. Step inside and the mid-century madness only intensifies…

In the living room, a massive, domed skylight is pierced by a tree trunk-like chimney leading down to the free-standing fireplace. Naturally, this becomes the focal point of the room, but there’s a lot of other stuff going on. Colorful mosaics are an artsy asset throughout the home, as is the onyx terrazzo flooring, walnut paneling, and Frankoma tiled glass walls.

Unsurprisingly, circles seem to be a big theme in this house. They come in the form of stained-glass windows, wall treatments, even the couch. One of the five bedrooms features a round bed, which shouldn’t surprise you at this point. (Another features a remarkably precarious four-tier bunk bed. I’m sure this doesn’t come with the house, but it’s worth checking out.)

Several glass doors provide ample natural light and lead out to the semi-covered patio, which holds a bar, pool, and (round) hot tub.

If James Bond and the Brady Bunch had a mashup, this would be the set. Sound good? It’s a pretty sweet setup, and it’s definitely one-of-a-kind. Here’s what you need to know:
