Innovative German Company Shows Off the Furniture of the Future
By Rebecca Sherman //
Innovative Germany-based outdoor-furniture company Dedon is conducting a national rollout that includes Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Miami. Founded in 1990, Dedon is now represented in more than 80 countries, with skilled rattan artisans on the island of Cebu in the Philippines expertly weaving Dedon’s high-tech synthetic fibers — a combination of new-world technology with old-world craftsmanship that has revolutionized outdoor furniture and made the company’s woven tables and chairs iconic.
Dedon is also known for collaborating with designers such as Philippe Starck and Jean-Marie Massaud to produce fresh looks. For spring, Dedon has launched four new collections, including lounge seating by modular design master Toan Nguyen, who recently created a contemporary collection for Fendi Casa.
Floating on hidden gliders for mobility, Nguyen’s pieces can be massed into an endless landscape of bent, snaking and semicircular configurations.
